HAPPY DECEMBER!  The race is on to get to Christmas and celebrate your holiday traditions with your family in a place you call home.   Can you imagine what that would mean if you didn't have a place to call home?  Most of us cannot imagine.

Ms. Wanda graduated from the Durham Rescue Mission and wondered what's next.  She had dreamed of a home of her own.  She didn't want much, just a place she could feel safe and call home.

She applied for a Habitat Home and was accepted around the same time that Habitat for Humanity of Durham was looking for ways to build more homes as affordable homes and lots in East Durham are getting harder to find.

Ms. Wanda didn't need much and that is why she fell in love with the idea of a Tiny Home.  How tiny?  About 500 square feet is the size of the Bonsai floor plan that became her home and Habitat for Durham's first tiny home.  Ms. Wanda now has a home for the holidays in East Durham.

The concept is a Tiny Home but I bet Ms. Wanda thinks it is a BIG DEAL.

HOW CAN YOU HELP!!!!

Habitat for Humanity of Durham and American Tobacco have come together to raise money for the Tiny Home Campaign that Habitat is working on to provide just enough space for other individuals to call HOME.  Tonight at the 13th Annual American Tobacco Tower Lighting event they will kick off an auction that will raise funds for the Tiny Home Campaign.  Fifteen local business worked with the Geezers at Habitat to build a playhouse of their own design for the sole purpose of raising these funds.  BID ON YOUR TINY playHOUSE Today to make a dream come true for someone else so they can come home for the holidays!

West & Woodall Real Estate partnered with Durham's Habitat For Humanity to build a farm-themed playhouse that we named E-I-E-I-OOO.  You can bid on this playhouse this holiday season and help Habitat.  Fifteen area businesses have built playhouses with various themes, and they are all on the Diamond View Lawn in front of the DPAC and Aloft Hotel in downtown Durham through the month of December.  The proceeds from the auction of the playhouses go to support Habitat's Tiny Home Campaign in Durham.  This is such a great way to support your neighbors' in need!

The online bidding will take place from December 1st - December 18th.  Opening bids start at $250, and bids are accepted in $50 increments.  There is a "BUY IT NOW" option for each playhouse for $2500.  Playhouses will be delivered to auction winners between January 2nd - January 10th, 2018.  Delivery is FREE within a 30-mile radius to the American Tobacco Campus.  Please click on the "Bid Now" link below to place your bid today!
